Recently I have been doing some work in PHP and have been using Dreamweaver CS5 as my IDE. What are others using and whats the general favorite out there?
Ideally I'd probably like an eclipse based solution so I can use the rest of my tools and have one IDE for PHP, CF and Java.

http://www.phpeclipse.com/ is pretty good.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind shedding a few dollars ZendStudio directly from Zend is great (http://www.zend.com/en/products/studio/) they have a free trial.
Personally I use phpeclipse most of the time.
I enjoy Aptana Studio 3 a lot for coding all things Web-related (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.). The fact that I can add CFEclipse and use it for CFML/Java as well is just awesome ... for me!
ReplyDeleteI just use a "raw" Eclipse - no PHP-specific plugins.
ReplyDeleteSomething lightweight that just did formatting (no annoying auto-complete stuff) would probably be nice, but I don't work with PHP enough that I've bothered to go looking for one.
Sublime Text 2 is incredible. http://www.sublimetext.com/2
ReplyDeleteLook for IntellJ its the one who rule them all.
ReplyDeleteI have tried phpeclipse, textmate, php storm, IntellJ and the one I have been using and simply love... Is Net Beans by far. Fantastic tooling, great plugins and really great auto-complete. Super easy to install and zero setup. Just start a php project and start jamming.

ReplyDeleteThanks, I do actually use VIM alot especially when onsite or a short fix/adaption to an application.
ReplyDeleteFor local development I'm going to give IntellJ a go see how I like it.
